Bray Selected as May Athlete of the Month

Ethan Bray, 19, of Fishers has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for May 2016.
Bray, who recently graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School and will attend the University  of South Dakota in the fall, had a busy month that was highlighted by his 16-6 clearance at the IHSAA Regional Championships on May 26.  The mark tied him for the 19th best vaulter in Indiana high school history.
Bray started off the month at the Hamilton County Championships on May 6 finishing second to eventual state champion Ryan Lipe of Carmel.  Bray cleared 15-6.  A week later he won the Hoosier Crossroads Conference with a vault of 16-2.  At the IHSAA Sectionals on May 19 he cleared 15-6 and finished second (to Lipe).  One week later at the Regionals he won, beating Cripe, and clearing 16-6 to improve his position on the top 25 all-time Indiana list (his previous career best was 16-4.75 from 2015).  At the state championships on June 4 he again cleared 16-6 to finish second; improving on his fourth place finish in 2015.
