Carlile selected as December Athlete of the Month

Austin Carlile, 8, of Fishers has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for December 2017.

Carlile, who competes for the Northside Saints, won the 8 & under boys race at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships last month in Tallahassee, Florida.
This is Carlile’s first year competing in cross country after watching his three older siblings (Jackson, 14; Connor, 12; and Addison, 9) succeed in the sport over the past five years.  He ran 7:18 (2 km) to win by 7 seconds over Gabriel Hislop of South Carolina. Carlile’s win was the first national cross country title for an Indiana athlete since 2004 (Bobby Moldovan 2004, 15-16 Boys).
The four Carlile siblings made history in Tallahassee as each earned all-American honors for their top 25 finishes.  It is believed to be the first time in the 50 year history of the Junior Olympic program that four siblings earned top 25 finishes in the same year.
