GETTING TO KNOW......Becky Boyle
Prior to Saturday's U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon in Los Angeles we caught up with Becky Boyle, 25, of Indianapolis to learn more about her running, how she felt when she learned she had qualified for the Trials, and her life beyond running; including, who she would most like to have lunch with, her role model, her favorite athlete, and something a bit unique about herself.  And you you can learn about who she would ask to be her Valentine.
This will be Becky’s first Olympic Trials.
So let's GET TO KNOW Becky a bit better......

How did you start running?
When I was a freshman in high school, I wanted to join the swim team. We had to carpool to the pool, and on the first day of tryouts, I missed the ride. I was crying in the gym when the track team jogged by, and they told me to come with them. I ran a 20 minute tempo with the team and never looked back!

Where did you qualify for the Trials?
Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, November 2013. I ran a 2:44:43!
Tell us about the point you realized you had  qualified for the Trials and how it felt:
I actually didn’t think I would ever “have it.” I ran my time before the standard changed almost 3 years ago. I kept thinking I would race the marathon again and qualify “for real," but the past few years have been a series of really bad injuries and law school. I just assumed I’d never make it to the trials. I didn’t even know the standard was changing this year until a friend mentioned it on Facebook, and I thought he was joking! There is a really good thread on the internet immortalizing my shock and confusion. It was just too funny.
High School:
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School (2009)
High School Best Times:
I honestly don’t remember! i was not a very aggressive high school runner. I ran the 5k in cross country and the 800 in track.
High School Highlights:
the day I ran 2:29 in the 4x8 at the state track and field meet in 2009 was great.
Indiana University (2013) and JD (2016) (i’m my last year of law school!)
College Best Times:
1600m: 5:08
5000m: 17:16
10,000m: 36:49
Half Marathon: 1:19
Marathon: 2:43

Something unique about you:
I am a quadruplet born on the fourth of July.
Favorite Workout:
Hill repeats, fartleks and cut downs. i hate tempo runs!
Favorite Place to Train:
Honestly, I’m shifting more into trail running than anything. i love Morgan-Monroe State Forest and brown county state park for trails close to the law school in Bloomington.
Favorite Food:
Peanut butter. I seriously eat a jar a week.
If you could have lunch with one person who would it be?
one of my favorite runners, like Rob Krar, Max King or Lauren Fleshman.
I have a lot of lawyers who have inspired me in mind, like Thurgood Marshall, but then i would be so nervous i wouldn’t eat!
Goal at the Trials:
Well, i am in no shape to run a marathon right now, so i will settle for asking Galen Rupp to be my valentine?
