Hocker selected as September Athlete of the Month

Cole Hocker of Indianapolis has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for September 2016.  Hocker, 15, a sophomore at Indianapolis Cathedral High School, competed in four high school invitationals during September and won all four.
Hocker’s first win came at the THSB State Preview Meet on the Lavern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute on September 3.  His time over the rolling 5 km course was 15:54.  One week later he picked up win number two at the Indiana All Catholic Championships running 17:40 in some of the worst race conditions ever seen at an Indiana cross country event.  Win number three came on September 17 at the FlashRock Invitational, again in sluggish conditions, as he ran 16:20 to defeat many of the top ranked runners in the state.  The following week he ran 15:34 to win the Delta Eagle Invitation in Muncie.

Hocker book-ended the four September wins with wins on August 27  (Rushville Invitational) and October 1 (Indianapolis City Championships).
