Kuhn Selected as February Athlete of the Month

Daniel Kuhn, of Shelbysville has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for February.  

Kuhn, a junior at Indiana University, had a busy month that included racing in seven events at three meets.  His great month of racing began on February 3 when he ran 1:46.42 for 800m and anchored the 4x400m relay at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend.  The 800m time was a career best and broke his own school record.  Going into this weekend’s NCAA Championships the mark is the forth best in the country.

Two weeks later Kuhn was back in South Bend for the Alex Wilson Invitational where he spilt 1:46.91 to lead Indiana to a 9:28.14 in the distance medley relay.  The time is the fastest run in 2017 in the NCAA and is the second fastest ever run by an IU squad.  

He finished the month of by winning the 600m at the Big Ten Championships.  His time of 1:15.23 makes him the fourth fastest American ever for 600m.  He also ran a 1:47.0 split on the winning distance medley relay and split 46.81 on the eight place 4x400m relay.  Kuhn’s performance were integral to leading the Hoosiers to the men’s team title.
