Kuhn Selected as January Athlete of the Month

Daniel Kuhn of Shelbyville has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for January 2016.

Kuhn, a sophomore at Indiana University, had a busy month that included racing in eight events at four meets over (four) consequent weekends.  Along the way he set two school records, a meet record, and ran a all-time top-10 collegiate mark.
At the IU vs. Tennessee dual meet on January 9 he ran 1:49.53 to break Jim Spivey’s meet record from 1981.  The following week at the IU vs. Purdue meet he won the 600m running 1:18.29 and spilt 47.3 on the winning 4x400m relay.  At the Rod McCravy Memorial Track & Field Meet held at the University of Kentucky January 22-23 he ran 1:48.13 in the 800m to break the school record and also split 1:47.16 on the winning distance medley relay team.  Kuhn completed the month with fireworks at the Indiana Relays as he ran 1:16.91 for 600m and split 47.4 (400m) on the 4x400m relay.  The 600m time broke the school record and makes him the #7 collegiate performer ever at the distance (on a regulation sized track).
Twice during he month he was named the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week.
