Moffitt selected at January Athlete of the Month

Janae Moffitt, 20, of Marion has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for January 2017.  

In January Moffitt, a sophomore at Purdue University, won three high jump competitions, finished second at another, and smashed through the 6 foot barrier for the first time.
On January 7 she cleared 5-9.25 to win the Gene Edmonds Open in West Lafayette. The following week she won the Indiana/Purdue Dual meet clearing 5-8.75.  On January 21 she finished second at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational in Lexington, Ky. with a mark of 5-10.  Coming into the season her career best was 5-11.75 set as a high school senior at Oak Hill High School.  On January 28 at the Fred Wilt Open in West Lafayette her winning clearance was 6-0.5.  The mark is currently 11th best in the NCAA and moves her to #3 on the Purdue all-time indoor list.
