Receveur selected as November Athlete of the Month

Katherine Receveur, 21, of Bloomington has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for November 2017.

Receveur, a red-shirt junior at Indiana University, won the NCAA Division 1 Great Lakes  Regional Championships on November 11 in Terre Haute, Ind.  She ran 20:35 over the 6 km course to outrun Gina Sereno of Michigan by four seconds.  It was the first individual regional title for an IU woman in 30 years.  Receveur's strong run helped the IU women finish fifth in the team competition which led to an at-large qualifying spot for the national championships.

At the NCAA Division 1 Championships in Louisville Receveur finished 20th to earn all-American honors for the second year in row (she finished 11th last year). She ran 19:58 and was the first Big Ten athlete to cross the finish line.

The week before the regional championships she became only the second IU woman to win the Big 10 Championships (Michelle Dekkers in 1988 was the first); setting a new course record on the Indiana University course.

Following the conclusion of the season she was named the Big 10 Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
