231 Young Hoosiers and 17 Teams Set to Compete at National Junior Olympic Championships in Kentucky

The 2023 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships will take place tomorrow (9-Dec) in Louisville, KY.  The competition is taking place at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, the site of numerous NCAA championships, including the 2012, 2015, and 2017 Division 1 championships.

A total of 3225 athletes are entered from across the country.  The top 25 finishers in each age division will earn all-American honors and recognition at the awards ceremony.

219 Indiana athletes, representing 17 clubs, are entered in the championships.

The following Indiana athletes won Region 7 titles last month and should contend for all-American honors:
Girls
 • Sterling Howard (9-10 Girls, Fishers Fire)
 • Aliyah Yorek (11-12 Girls, unattached)
 • Maddie Graber (15-16 Girls; #teamorange Distance RC)
 • Emily Garten (17-18 Girls, unattached)
Boys
 • Aaron Stockwell (7-18 Boys; Speed U TC)
 • Quentyn Mutz (9-10 Boys; Evansville Speedsters Track)
 • Jaxon Sager (11-12 Boys; #teamorange Distance RC)
 • Calvin Seitz (13-14 Boys; #teamorange Distance RC)
 • Zane Meyer (15-16 Boys; unattached)
 • Samuel Yarnelle (17-8 Boys; Soca Speed TC)

At last year's championships in Texas, Yorek finished fourth in the 9-10 division and Seitz finished 21st in the 13-14 division. Both look to content for top-ten finishes this year.

Teams that won regional titles last month and will content for top-ten team finishes are Southern Indiana Running Club (7-8 Boys), Westfield Track (9-10 Boys), Fishers Fire (9-10 Girls), Soca Speed Track Club (15-18 Boys), Soca Speed Track Club (15-18 Girls).
