Indiana athletes delivered a series of impressive performances at the USATF U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, highlighted by Team USA qualifying efforts from Noah Bontrager and Elisabeth Barada.

The top two finishers in each event earned spots on Team USA for the World Athletics U20 Championships, which will be contested later this summer in Eugene.

Bontrager secured his place on the national team by winning the men's 3000 meters in 8:32.53. The victory gave Indiana a national champion and a World Championships qualifier in one of the meet's most competitive distance events.

Barada also punched her ticket to Team USA with a runner-up finish in the women's 800 meters. Her time of 2:02.72 not only earned second place but also broke her own Indiana high school record of 2:03.02, continuing her remarkable progression on the national stage.

Several other Indiana athletes recorded top-10 finishes during the championship meet.

In the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Emily Decker of Ball State University placed fourth in 10:36.28, narrowly missing a podium finish. Jordan Randall matched that fourth-place result in the men's high jump, clearing 2.17 meters.

Chloe Senefeld finished sixth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.54, while Benjamin Brown of Indiana State earned sixth place in the men's shot put with a mark of 19.33 meters.

Weston Ott posted a pair of top-eight finishes, placing eighth in both the men's discus throw and shot put. Isaac Roman added a ninth-place finish in the men's pole vault after clearing 4.97 meters.

Additional Indiana performances included:

  • 10th – Devon Thurmond (Indiana State), Men's Discus Throw – 55.82m
  • 14th – Benjamin Brown (Indiana State), Men's Discus Throw – 54.58m
  • 21st – James Leiter (Grand Valley State), Men's Shot Put – 17.13m
