Hocker selected as January Athlete of the Month

Cole Hocker, 20, of Indianapolis has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for January 2022. 

On January 29, Hocker finished third in the 3000m at the Millrose Games in New York.  He stopped the clock at 7:39.83.  The time is #3 all-time for Indiana natives; only trailing Rudy Chapa (7:37.70) and Andy Bayer (7:38.90).

Two weeks later on February 11, Hocker finished second in the 1 mile at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago.  His time of 3:50.35 is the #4 all-time U.S. performance indoors and was only .46 seconds off of the U.S. record held by Bernard Lagat. The next day he won the 800m running 1:49.21.
