Killebrew selected as June Athlete of the Month

Semira Killebrew, 18, of Indianapolis has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for June 2019. Killebrew is a recent graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Prep in Indianapolis who will matriculate to the University of Florida as a student/athlete.

On June 1 Killebrew won the 100m and placed second in the 200m at the Indiana State High School Championships.  In the 100m she won her second straight title running 11.67.  In the 200m she ran 23.97 to finish second to Ramiah Elliott (23.67) of Pike High School.

One week later she won the 100m at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle.  Her time of 11.24 smashed the 11-year old Indiana state record of 11.39 held by Candyce McGrone.

The following week found Killebrew on the other side of the country from Seattle competing in the USATF U20 Championships in Miramar, Florida.  Competing against the top high school and college freshmen she finished third running 11.31. By placing third she was selected to represent Team USA in the 4x100m relay at the upcoming Pan American U20 Championships in Costa Rica July 19-21.
