Noah Malone, 19, of Fishers, Ind. has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for August 2021.  Malone, a 2019 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School, is a sophomore at Indiana State University. Malone won a relay gold medal (4x100m) and two individual silver medals (100m and 400m) at the recent 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.  He competes in the T12 (visual impairment) classification.

In the 100m it took a world record to beat Malone.  Malone ran 10.66, trailing only the world record time of 10.43 turned in by Salum Ageze Kashafali of Norway.  In the qualifying round Malone ran a career best of 10.55 which broke the Paralympic Games record (subsequently lowered by Kashafali in the final) and established a new U.S. record.

Three days later, competing in the 400m, he won his second silver medal.  Again it took a world record performance to beat Malone who ran a career best time of 47.97 to earn his silver medal. His time established a new U.S. record.  His best time coming into the Games was 49.38. In the qualifying round he lowered that to 45.50; establishing a new Paralympic Games record.  The finals were won by Abdeslam Hili of Morocco, setting a new world record of 47.59.

On the last day of competition, Malone ran the lead off leg for Team USA's gold medal winning team in the 4x100m relay.  The team established a new world record running 45.52.

Malone is the current world record holder in the 200m (21.55), an event not contested at this year's Games.

In high school he won the Indiana state 200m title and in May, competing for ISU, finished fourth the 100m and 200m at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
