Seitz selected as November Athlete of the Month


 
Calvin Seitz, 13, of Jasper has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for November 2022.

Seitz was undefeated during the Hoosier Cross Country Grand Prix as he won the Seymour, Noblesville, and Columbus classics in October and then on November 5 he won the Carmel Classic (13-14 division) running 14:03 over a wind-swept 4 kilometer course.

One week later in frigid and snowy conditions he won the Indiana Junior Olympic title running 13:52 on the Blue River course in Shelbyville.  His victory helped lead his #teamorange team to the team title.

On November 19 he finished third at the Region 7 Junior Olympic Championships in Oswego, IL to qualify for the national championships (note: he went on to finish 21st at the national championships to earn all-American honors).

He ended the season with a perfect score of 2800 points in the Grand Prix.

Gretchen Farley of Indianapolis finished ninth at the Champs Sports Midwest Regionals in Wisconsin to qualify for the national championships.

Brieanne Fleming of New Albany won the Carmel Classic and Indiana championships in the open division. She was undefeated in the Hoosier Cross Country Grand Prix.

Cynthia Harris of Indianapolis won the Carmel Classic and Indiana championships in the masters 50-54 division. She was undefeated in the Hoosier Cross Country Grand Prix.


Sophia Kennedy of Carmel finished second at the Champs Sports Midwest Regionals in Wisconsin to qualify for the national championships. She also finished fifth at the Nike Midwest Regionals to qualify for the Nike Nationals.

Eli Lesnet of Westfield won the Carmel Classic and Indiana championships in the 11-12 division.

Kole Mathison of Carmel finished second at the Champs Sports Midwest Regionals to qualify for the national championships. He also finished fifth at the Nike Midwest Regionals to qualify for the Nike Nationals. His time of 14:47 at the Nike regionals was the fastest time ever recorded by an Indiana athlete on the LaVern Gibson Championship XC Course in Terre Haute.

Elizabeth McAllister of Georgetown won the Carmel Classic, Indiana championships, and Region 7 championships in the 8 & under division.

Brody Moore of Fishers won the Carmel Classic, Indiana championships, and Region 7 championships in the 8 & under division.

Mike Mullen of Rising Sun won the Carmel Classic and Indiana championships in the masters 60-64 division.

Chloe Tragesser of Morristown won the won the Carmel Classic, Indiana championships, and Region 7 championships in the 11-12 division. She ended the season with a perfect score of 2800 points in the Grand Prix.

Taylor Tragesser of Morristown won the Carmel Classic, Indiana championships, and Region 7 championships in the 13-14 division. She ended the season with a perfect score of 2800 points in the Grand Prix.

Aliyah Yorek of Fishers won the Carmel Classic, Indiana championships, and Region 7 championships in the 9-10 division.


Ken Wempe of Indianapolis won the Carmel Classic and Indiana championships in the masters 50-54 division. He ended the season with a perfect score of 2700 points in the Grand Prix.
