Steury selected as September Athlete of the Month

Izaiah Steury, 19, of Pleasant Lake, Ind. has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for September 2021.

Stuery, a senior at Angola High School, won two of the state's largest and most competative high school invitationals in September.

On September 4 he won the Marion Invitational on the Indiana Wesleyan University course in Marion. His winning time of 14:56 is the #2 time ever on the course (beind the 14:52 he ran in 2020).

Two weeks later Stuery won the Riverview Health Inivtational on the Northview Church course in Carmel. He ran 14:52; edging out Kole Mathison of Carmel by one second. His time is the second fastest ever on the course behind the 14:37 course record set by Futsum Zienasellassie in 2011.
