Stone selected as May Athlete of the Month

Nathan Stone, 18, of Indianapolis, has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for May 2019.  Stone recently graduated from Lawrence North High School.

Stone started the month off by clearing 16-0 at both the Pike Invitational (May 3) and the Marion County Championships (May 8).

Then the sparks began to fly as he entered the state tournament.  On May 16 at the IHSAA Sectional Championships in Fortville he cleared 17-6; tying his career best (set indoors in March).  The mark is 2019 U.S #1 and all-time Indiana #3.  His previous outdoor career best was 17-0 set at last year's IHSAA State Championships where he finished second.  One week later he won the IHSAA Regional title with a clearance of 17-0¾.  And then this past Friday night (May 31) he won his first Indiana state title with a clearance of 16-7.

Stone is set to matriculate to Indiana University in the fall where he will compete on the track & field team.
