Weller selected as December Athlete of the Month

Daphne Weller, 14, has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for December 2024.

At the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships held on December 14 in Shelbyville, Weller won the 13-14 girls title as she defeated region 7 rival Graceleen Mabry of Illinois in the closet race of the day as both ran 13:40. The margin of victory for Weller was just .06 seconds. Weller's time is believed to be the fastest time ever for the division on a bona-fide 4 km course. She led her HP Distance Project team to a fourth place team finish scoring 222 points; just 11 points behind the third place Boulder Mountain Warriors.
