Wiley selected as February Athlete of the Month

Addidson Wiley, 17, of Huntington, Ind. has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for February 2021.  Wiley is a junior at the Huntington North High School.  

Wiley set three Indiana high school state indoor records during the month of February.  

She started off on February 7 running 4:45.77  for 1600m at the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase in Geneva, OH.  The time broke the previous record of 4:50.81 set by Emma Wilson in 2019.  The time is the #3 ever indoors or outdoors trailing only Bethany Neeley's (4:42.14) and Waverly Neer's (4:43.46) outdoor performances.

On February 19 at the CYUP Misfits Invitational in Chicago Wiley ran 10:16.91 over 3200m.  The time broke the previous state indoor record of 10:19.57 by Waverly Neer in 2011.  It is also the #3 time ever indoors or outdoors.  Only Anna Rohrer (9:56.48) and Neer (10:16.47) have run faster outdoors.

Then on February 27 at the Warsaw Classic she ran 2:09.69 to break the 800m record of 2:12.02 set just two weeks earlier by Amaya Turner.  The time is the #7 performance ever indoors or outdoors.
