Palacios selected as July Athlete of the Month


 
 
 

Antonio Palacios, 56, of Bloomington has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for July 2022.   

Palacios started the month off competing at the World Masters Championships in Tampere, Finland and ended the month at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championshps in Lexington, Kentucky.  At both championships he won gold medals.

At the world championships he won the men's 55-59 Triple Jump with a leap of 12.43m (40-9½) and also finished fourth in the Long Jump (5.79m / 19-0).

Just two weeks later at the USATF championships he won three gold medals in the men's 55-59 division.  His winning performances were - High Jump (1.55m / 5-1), Long Jump (5.85m / 19-2½), and Triple Jump (11.59m / 38-0¼).

Ethan Aidoo (Speed U  Track Club) - Finished sixth in the 17-18 boys 1500m,  18th in the 800m, and 57th in the 400m at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Hannah Alexander (AthLead Indy) - Won the 15-16 girls Discus Throw, finished second in the Shot Put and placed fifth in the Hammer Throw at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Brenda Babits (Vault High Athletics) - Won the women's 60-64 pole vault at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Paul Babits (Vault High Athletics) - Won the men's 60-64 pole vault at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Curtis Baldwin - Won silver medals in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays at the World Masters Championships in Finland.

Isaac Bedwell - Finished second in the 13-14 boys Pole Vault at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Nick Blakey - Won the men's 30-34 400m and 400m Hurdles and finished fourth in the 200m at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Chet Clodfelter - Won the men's 55-59 Pole Vault and finished fifth in the Triple Jump at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Michael Collins - Won the men's 55-59 10,000m at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.  

Aaron Combs - Won the men's 30-34 800m and 1500m at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.


Robert Davis V - Won the men's 25-29 Long Jump at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Samuel Didat - Finished sixth in the 13-14 boys Discus Throw and eighth in the Shot Put at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Joseph Franklin II - Finished third in the 17-18 boys Discus Throw and 21st in the Shot Put at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Amyla Holder - Finished second in the 11-12 girls Discus Throw and seventh in the Shot Put at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Gary Hunter
- Won the men's 65-69 Pole Vault at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Lynna Irny
- Finished 12th in the 400m at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Scott Johnson
- Won the men's 45-49 Pole Vault at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Mia Kemp - Finished fifth in the 15-16 girls Heptathlon at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Ronald Mayhew - Finished third in the 17-18 boys Shot Put at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Ikechukwu Nnachi - Won the men's 35-39 Shot Put and finished second in the Discus Throw at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Arris Peters (Soca Speed Track Club) - Finished sixth in the 7-8 boys Javelin Throw at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.

Holly Read
- Won the women's 35-39 5000m and 10,000m at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Adam Smith (Three Rivers Racing) - Won the men's 45-49 110m Hurdles and Pentathlon and finished second in the Javelin and third in the High Jump at the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Adriana Swanson (Soca Speed Track Club) - Finished second in the 13-14 girls 100m Hurdles and seventh in the 200m Hurdles at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Sacramento, California.
