Palacios selected as March Athlete of the Month


 
Antonio Palacios, 56, of Bloomington has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for March 2023.

Palacios, the 2022 Masters Track & Field Indiana Athlete of the Year, won both the long jump (5.78m / 18-1¾) and triple jump (11.68m / 38-4) at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships held March 10-12 in Lousville, KY. He has now won 25 USATF masters titles during his career that started in 2004.

Two weeks later at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland he won the long jump (5.93m / 19-5½) and finished second in the triple jump (12.49m / 40-11¾). It was his third world title and fifth world medal.

Sebastian Adams of Chesterton finished second in the 7-8 boys shot put and seventh in the 1500m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Brenda Babits of Fort Wayne won the W60 Pole Vault at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships and also at the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships.

Choz’ley Brimmage of Indianapolis finished second in the 9-10 girls 55m and 12th in the 400m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Nick Blakey of Indianapolis finished second in the M30 200m and 400m and seventh in the 60m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Thomas Burns of Westfield won the M40 3000m and finished second in the 1500m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Chet Clodfelter of Roachdale won the M60 pole vault and finished third in the high jump at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Reegan Clutter of Lynnville finished second in the 13-14 girls 55m and long jump and finished sixth in the 200m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Christine Davis of Pendleton won the W75 200m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.  She also won the 60m and 200m at the USATF Indiana Championships.

Tyler Dillon of Muncie won the 17-18 boys 800m and finished eighth in the 1500m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY. 

Kenneth Drollinger of Covington finished second in the M65 high jump and fourth in the pole vault at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.  He also won the high jump and pole vault at the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships.

Elizabeth Evans of Terre Haute won the W30 high jumop at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships and also at the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships.

Gretchen Farley of Indianapolis ran the fifth fastest indoor 1600m (4:47.39; converted from 4:49.06 1 mile) ever by a Indiana prep at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Leandra Funk of West Lafayette won the W65 200m and 400m and finished fourth in the 60m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY. At the World Masters Indoor Championships in Poland she finished sixth in the 400m and eighth in the 200m. At the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships she won thge 60m and 400m.

Hidi Gaff of Fort Wayne won the W40 1500m and finished third in the 3000m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY. At the USATF Indiana Indoor championships she won the 1500m and 3000m.

Darnell Gaffney of Merrillville finished second in the 9-10 boys shot put at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.

Audrianna Hale of Linton finished third in the 17-18 girls Long Jump and fourth in the 55m Hurdles at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.

Jalyn Harris of Gary finished third in the  9-10 girls shot put at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.

Anthony Heath of Lizton won the M50 Pole Vault at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY. He also won the same event at the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships.

Jessica Hegedus of Avon finished second in the 17-18 Girls 800m and 1500m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Londyn Hill of Hobart won the 9-10 girls long jump, finished third in the 200m and finished sixth in the 55m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Mike Jackson of Bloomington won the M45 1500m and 3000m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville, KY.

George Joachim of Fort Wayne won the M50 long jump at the USATF Masters Indoor Championshps in Lousville, KY. He also finished fourth in the 400m, seventh in the 60m, and tenth in the 200m.

Kyleigh Johnson of Indianapolis won the 7-8 girls shot put and finished seventh in the 55m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Scott Johnson of Culver won the M45 pole vault and finished second in the pentathlon at the USATF Masters Indoor Championshps in Lousville, KY.

Taylor Johnson of Evansville finished second in the 17-18 girls 400m, fifth in the 55m and eighth in the 200m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championshps in Lousville, KY.

Joselyn Jundos of West Lafayette finished third in the 17-18 girls 400m and 800m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championshps in Lousville, KY.

Connor Kalvar of Floyds Knobs won the 17-18 boys weight throw at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Sophia Kennedy of Carmel ran the second fastest indoor 1600m (4:45.60; converted from 4:49.06 1 mile) ever by a Indiana prep at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. Won the 3200m (10:16.14) at the Hoosier State Relays.

Adriene Lewis of Fishers won the W60 60m Hurdles and finished second in the 400m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Grace Liang of Indianapolis won the W35 60m hurdles, finished third in the long jump and 60m, and finished fourth in the 200m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY. At the USATF Indiana Indoor Championships she won the 60m, 200m, 60m hurdles, and long jump.

Hadley Lucas of Bloomington won the 17-18 girls weight throw at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY. Won the shot put (48-05) at the Hoosier State Relays.

Brooklyn Lutz of Newburgh finished second in the 15-16 Girls 800m and fourth in the 400m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Kole Mathison of Carmel ran the fastest 3200m (8:44.06; converted from 8:47.11 2 mile) ever by a Indiana prep and the fastest indoor 1600m (4:05.06; converted from 4:06.48 1 mile) ever by an Indiana prep at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Rachel Mehringer of Schnellville won the 17-18 girls 55m hurdles at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY. She also set the Indiana high school indoor record in the 60m hurdles (8.45) at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York.

Jaelyn Reeves-Lile of Indianapolis won the 17-18 boys 55m and 200m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Amaya Royal of Newburgh finished third in the 17-18 girls 200m and fourth in the 55m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Mason Schmitz of Fortville won the 15-16 boys 800m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Myla Smoot of Merrillville finished second in the 7-8 girls 400m and third in the long jump at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Caleb Sickbert of Ferdinand won the 11-12 boys shot put at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Nicki Southerland of Muncie ran the fastest indoor 800 (2:08.85) and indoor 1600m (4:43.71; converted from 4:44.12 1 mile) ever by a Indiana prep at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Samuel Yarnelle of Angola finished second in the 17-18 boys 1500m and fifth in the 800m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.

Jalyn Zaccardelli of Evansville finished second in the 15-16 girls    high jump and ninth in the 400m  at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships in Lousiville, KY.
