Indiana Elite AC clinch National Grand Prix title with win at 12 km Championships in New Jersey

On Sunday (18-Sept) four (4) athletes from Indiana competed in the USATF Masters 12 km Championships in Highlands, N.J. The championship, hosted by the by The Hook or Crook 12K, was the seventh race in the 2022 USATF National Masters Grand Prix.

A total of 299 athletes from 32 states competed in the championships.

The storyline of the day for the Indiana athletes was the national team title won by the Indiana Elite Athletic Club. The team won their fourth team title in 2022 and fight in a row going back to last Decembers USATF Club championships.  With the win the team clinched the win in the 2022 USATF Club Grand Prix.  Leading the team was Jesse Davis, 40, of Indianapolis who finished fourth in the men's 40-44 division running 39:55.  He was backed up by Jeff Zeha, 41, of Fishers and John Poray, 41 of Fishers. Zeha (40:57) and Poray (41:09) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 40-44 division.

Mike Cole, 47, of Zionsville was the team's fourth finisher and finished fourth in the men's 45-49 division.  His time was 42:52. He finished less than one second behind the third place finisher Aaron Totten-Lancaster of New Jersey; just missing a visit to the awards podium.

The team's cumalative team time was 2:02:02 as they finished 1:44 ahead the Garden State Track Club.
