Ty Garrett, 15, of Bargersville has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for December 2019. Garrett, a Freshman at Center Grove High School, competes for the Center Grove TF Club. On December 14, Garrett ran to a seventh place finish in the 15-16 division at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championhips in Madison, WI. His time was 16:00. During the high school season Garrett finished an impressive 22nd place at the IHSAA state finals in Terre Haute. He was the second freshman to cross the line. At last summer's Junior Olympic track nationals in Sacramento he finished 2nd in the 2000m steeplechase in a time of 6:32.01.
