Robert Murphy, 25, of Warsaw has been named the USATF Indiana Athlete of the Month for January 2020. On January 19 Murphy ran 2:18:58 at the Houston Marathon to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon. It was Murphy's second attempt at the marathon distance following his debut of 2:26:16 at the CNO Monumnetal Marathon in November. Murphy is a 2016 graduate of IUPUI. He is the school record holder in the 800m (1:53.84), 1500m (3:48.08), and 3000m steeplechase (8:44.91) The Trials will be will be held on Feburary 29 in Atlanta.
